The evolution of an altar

The altar of St. John the Baptist church in Quincy from 1900-1908:

The altar of the same church from 1908-1943 (this one is my favorite):
The same altar from 1943-1971:

The same altar, with a new tabernacle, in 1971:

The same altar from 1972 to the present (though currently without the candles):

  1. Don't take this the wrong way, as modern sanctuaries go, it's very good. But the old pictures are even better. I can't believe anyone would get rid of a baldachin like that. What on earth were they thinking.

  3. Jeffrey, I agree, and I have no idea what they were thinking, though I'm certain they meant well.

Joshua, your blog might be interesting if I could fluently read Spanish. I'm very happy that your blog is "so cool", but please don't use my comment box as your advertising space.
