The arrival

After returning to the rectory after my morning classes at the high school I took a quick look on the front porch for my package. To my surprise it was not there.

So I went to my office and logged on to www.dhl.com to check the status of said package. I was told that it was delivered at 11:27 a.m., which I thought odd as it was 12:31 p.m. at the time.

I then went up front to the parish secretary who had no package for me. Now, being very confused and a bit worried, I returned to the rectory determined that I must simply have missed it, or maybe the pastor brought it inside.

Still not finding it I returned to the office and was told that the secretary at the grade school had just called: my package was with her. I'm not sure why it was delivered there, but I'm glad it was found.

Dropping everything I crossed the street and retrieved my delivery.

I am happy to say that the surplice meets my liking very much as do the albs, though I'm afraid the albs may be just a bit too long. However, the last alb I purchased from Rome somehow shrunk at the drycleaners and I'm not the only one with this experience. I fully expect these albs to shrink as well.

As each of the items had rather a lot of wrinkles, I promptly took them to the drycleaners and will collect them on Wednesday. Pictures of wrinkled vestments do a disservice to beautiful liturgical pieces. Until then, you'll just have to wait for pictures :)

Bishop Lucas will be here on Thursday for Confirmation; my surplice arrived just in time to wear as the Master of Ceremonies.

  2. Good timing. I'm sure the bishop will be impressed and we'll all be looking forward to pictures.

  3. The eagle has landed. I repeat, the eagle has landed. More importantly, the package has landed.

Looking forward to seeing your new "threads."

    Have a wonderful weekend.

If the albs are still too long, I'll bet Betty Boos can take them up for you.
