On this day in the year 1864, Brother Damien de Veuster was ordained to the priesthood of Jesus Christ in the Cathedral of our Lady of Peace in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was then aged twenty-four years.Following his ordination, Father Damien ministered on the Big Island for nine years before going to the Kalaupappa setllement on Molokai for the last sixteen years of his life.
