A suicide bomber has attacked a Protestant church near Surakarta (also known as Solo), a city of over 500,000 in central Java. The bomber killed himself and injured 20 worshippers.
Urging Indonesians to “unite in the fight against terrorism,” Father Antonius Benny Susetyo, an official of the Indonesian bishops’ conference, said that “we deplore this attack on churchgoers. It is an insult to God.”
