The 14th General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops will meet this October in Rome to discuss "the vocation and mission of the family in the Church and contemporary world."
As part of the preparatory work for the Synod and in response to the request of the Holy See for "a broader consultation," His Excellency the Most Reverend Thomas John Paprocki, Bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, has invited the faithful of his Diocese to reflect on a series of questions under the following themes:
- Listening: The Context and Challenges of the Family
- Looking at Christ: The Gospel of the Family, and
- Confronting the Situation: Pastoral Perspectives
The survey will be available online through the end of this month.
The questions first require a reading of the lineamenta that will guide the work of the Synod, which can be found here. It will take some time to answer the questions, but you can save your progress and completing the survey will be a help to the work of the Synod. And for those not inclined to take surveys, it could be a good Lenten penance.
