A new look at medieval warfare

I'm not sure why this should be surprising, but medieval texts of war are being read again in the light of modern military psychology.  Consequently, a new understanding of medieval warfare is emerging, thanks to a new study from Copenhagen.

Consider this statement from the researcher:

“From crime statistics and letters of pardon, historians can see that people in the Middle Ages were no more violent than we are today,” says the researcher. “But they had a different perception of the use of violence, including lethal violence.”
