In St. Peter's Square workers are seeing to the final preparations for the Mass, for which some thirty thousand tickets have are being distributed:
The "doors" to the Square open at 8:00 a.m. for the Mass which is to begin at 10:00 a.m. I'm told tickets have even been distributed for standing room in the Via Conciliazione, the street leading away from St. Peter's Square.
It is a rainy day here in Rome. Ordinarily, this is not a pleasant thing, but today it is because the rain has cooled the temperatures nicely.
And even on a cloudy day, this sight brings a ray of light pointing heavenward:
If the rain does not let up, today will be a good day to read again a biography of this holy man.
