I'm not sure the ecumenical leaders were sure how to take the Holy Father's remarks. Their applause seemed slow and not so enthusiastic.
He has given a strong challenge against subjective feelings in the choice of religion. He has reminded us that we cannot chose our faith, religion or denomination on what I like. We must rather conform ourselves to the truth.
Just because I don't like what this church does or what this pastor does is not a reason to join another ecclesial community, let alone begin a new one.
Our good friends at EWTN have posted the words of the Holy Father at the ecumenical gathering and at the synagogoue.
