Of two sorts of youth

Airport terminals are useful for at least one thing in life: catching up on electronic mail and blogs.

As I sit here in the airport waiting for our flight to Madrid for the World Youth Day, I couldn't help but notice this challenge from Father Jay Toborowsky:
Watch for (any) mainstream media coverage of World Youth Day. See the contrast between the angry youth of the English riots/looting with the participants of WYD.
See if the media tries to draw comparisons.
I give this same challenge to you.  Don't forget to make comparisons.

  1. Do stories about that guy who wanted to attack the anti-Catholic protestors count?

  4. The first article is curious in that it doesn't mention the clashes between the protesters and the police, which pictures from the various protests clearly show.

The second article mentions the Pope's concern for Spain which they see reflected in his visit during economic troubles (even though the WYD was scheduled at least 3 years ago), but it doesn't really seem to take into account the economic boost that will be brought to the city by the pilgrims. I'll post more on this today.
