Persecution Watch: Iraq

A second church in Iraq was bombed early this morning.  From Catholic World News:
A bomb ripped through a Syrian Orthodox in Kirkuk, Iraq, in the early hours of Monday, August 15.

St. Ephraim’s church was empty at the time of the blast, and no one was hurt, but the building was severely damaged. The bombing is the latest in a long series of attacks targets against Christians in Iraq.

The explosion at St. Ephraim’s church occurred several hours before a wide series of bomb blasts at targets in several cities across Iraq. Nearly 400 people were killed or wounded in the broader bombing campaign, making August 15 the bloodiest day of violence in Iraq this year [more].
