This is now the second time in less than one week that people have simply listened to me, soaking in what I said. I'm not especially sure I like it - it's rather scary, really.
The class turned in to what you could really call "Father Daren's take on the world." They wanted me to talk about the war in Iraq, Islam, American society, Barak Obama, commercialism, MTV and some of the shows on it, individualism, faith, spirituality, suffering and joy. They listened so intently that I can't help but wonder if anyone has ever talked with them about these most important issues.
Here am I , just another simply messed up human being whom God has chosen to use as his instrument. Here I will make my own the beautiful first public words spoken by Pope Benedict XVI at his election:
The fact that the Lord knows how to work and to act even with inadequate instruments comforts me, and above all I entrust myself to your prayers.
Let us move forward in the joy of the Risen Lord, confident of his unfailing help. The Lord will help us and Mary, his Most Holy Mother, will be on our side.
