The trouble of gift cards

Due to the generosity of a few friends this Christmas I have a couple of gift cards to Barnes & Noble to use, but I'm having some difficulty deciding what to add to my library, though I think I have narrowed my choices down to two books.

The first would be The Complete Far Side.  I love this comic strip and, though I have a few collections of it, I do not have the complete set.  This would proof great bits of random humor during stressful moments.

The second would be the 50th anniversary edition of The Lord of the Rings.  Naturally, I have the trilogy already; this would be a nicer volume to keep for reading at home during the winter months when I don't get out much.

Which do you think I should get?

I guess I would go with the LOTR set, but I don't know much about the far side (though humor is always a good thing...).

  2. I vote for The Far Side, or the Calvin and Hobbes complete set :)

  3. I hadn't thought about Calvin and Hobbes, but that would be good, too.
