As a global summit on climate change wrapped up yesterday in Paris, France, the city of the Springfield, Illinois felt a record-breaking high temperature:
Christmas is less than two weeks away, but it was a balmy 70 degrees Saturday in Springfield, a new record high temperature for Dec. 12.
The previous record for the day was 64 degrees, recorded in 1929 [more].Some will likely cite this as evidence of increasing global temperature and call more "action" to slow or halt it, but let us not forget that a record-breaking low temperature was also felt in Springfield, Illinois earlier this year in February.
The reality is that the climate is - and always has been - changing, as a simple reading of diaries and letters through the centuries will easily show.
