As part of our ongoing celebration of International Heraldry Day, I thought I would share with you a piece of heraldry not often see:
The above is the coat of arms of the United States of America, as depicted in the refectory of the Casa Santa Maria, which, for the time being, I call home.
Though there are some inaccuracies compared to the official Great Seal of the Union. For example, the chief azure is not actually blazoned with stars, and the eagle is not a crest, but a supporter, and over its head should be a "glory" blazoned with thirteen stars.
