+Paprocki: "Let us go together" to WYD 2016

"Let us go together" is part of the invitation of the Most Reverend Thomas John Paprocki, Bishop of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, to join him for the upcoming World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow, Poland:

Though I will not be able to join the pilgrimage to Krakow, I was blessed to go on pilgrimage to the World Youth Days in Sydney, Australia and Madrid, Spain. If you are thinking of joining the pilgrimage, I highly encourage you to do so.

News you probably missed - March 11th

• The Orthodox Patriarchs have called an ecumenical council, the first in some 1,200 years, to be held in 2016.

•  The dates for the World Youth Day 2016, which will be held in Krakow, have been announced: July 26-31. Now your planning can begin!

• In East St. Louis, police have arrested two people on charges of DUI after they rear-ended a squad car.

•  The push for the redefinition of marriage continues with the growing push for the acceptance of polygamy. As happened with the push to normal homosexual behavior, this push takes root on television and will lead to a push not only for acceptance, but for legal protection as well.

• Legislators in Arizona have approved the Women's Health Protection Act, which will grant health inspectors the authority to make unannounced inspections of abortion "clinics". Naturally, the pro-abortion forces are unhappy with this news, but the case of Kermit Gosnell, and others, highlights the urgent need for such inspections.

•  Representative Alvin Holmes (D-Alabama) recently claimed that 99% of white pro-lifers would abort a black baby.

• The government of Spain is giving away several empty medieval villages to those with plans - and, presumably, funding - to preserve them.

•  Three years since a great earthquake struck Japan, the President of Caritas Japan, Bishop Isao Kikuchi, SVD, continues to call for prayers and support.

• In light of recent lawsuits across the country, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is revising contracts for teachers at Catholic Schools by expanding the moral conduct clause and making it more explicit.

• A former Anglican priest has been received into the full communion of the Catholic Church through the Anglican Ordinariate, together with more than half of his former congregation. I expect we'll see more of this in the coming years.

• The President of France has allowed a woman to marry a dead man.
