Too often we think of the age of martyrs as a time long gone, relegated to distant lands and times.
In Baghdad on Sunday, Islamic terrorists affiliated with Al-Qaeda stormed the Chaldean Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Salvation. They took more than 70 of the faithful hostage and killed at least 58, including 2 priests. All during the celebration of the Holy Mass.
Martyrdom is still possible today. Please, keep our Christian brothers and sisters in the Middle East in your prayers each day.
Two of the priests were killed instantly and a third died at the hospital.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I do is select a troubled country and pray for it on a monthly basis: Iran, Iraq, etc.
