The Christmas tree in St. Peter's Square, which stands just over one hundred feet tall, was lit today.The lighting took place during a ceremony presided over by Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo.
It is now safe to light your own Christmas trees.
The nativity scene in the Square will be unveiled on Christmas Eve.
