Republican candidate attacked for his Catholic faith left the Democrat party because of its anti-Catholicism

Two weeks ago I shared with you a political advertisement in the state of Washington that smacks not only of anti-Catholicism, the last acceptable prejudice in the United States of America:

Despite the bigotry so clearly expressed in the advert, there is good news to report: The ad was unsuccessful. The people of Washington elected him to the senate by a margin of 13 points.

But there's also a surprising twist to the story. Before becoming a Republican, Miloscia had been Democrat. Why did he switch parties? Because of the anti-Catholic sentiment within the Democrat party.
