Today being the memorial of Saints Cosmas and Damian, two brothers who were known as the "
moneyless ones" because of their refusal to accept payment for the medical services out of love for Christ, I decided to visit the basilica in Rome dedicated to their memory and to pray for their intercession.
(When he entered the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of the Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, young Joseph DeVuester chose the name Damien in honor of this martyr.
