Franciscan sisters celebrate first professions, receptions into novitiate

ALTON — The Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George will celebrate the profession of first vows and the reception into the novitiate of several Sisters during Mass at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15. Two novices will make their first profession of vows, and four postulants will be received into the novitiate.
Bishop Thomas John Paprocki will be the main celebrant of the Mass, celebrated on the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady, at St. Mary’s Church, Alton. He will be joined by other bishops and priests.

The novices who will make their first profession are Sister M. Bernadette Morse, daughter of Kathryn Morse of Bancroft, Iowa, and Kenneth Morse of Clarion, Iowa; and Sister M. Isabella Erb, daughter of Todd and Amy Erb of York, Penn.

The postulants who will be received into the novitiate and receive their new religious names are Erin Leis (Sister Teresa Maria), daughter of Thomas and Cynthia Leis of Cashton, Wis.; Samantha Goodson (Sister Mary Francis) daughter of Darryl and Connie Goodson of St. Louis; Ashley Vola (Sister M. Caterina) daughter of Steven and Susan Vola of Lake St. Louis; and Miranda Edgar (Sister Mary Peter) daughter of Rick and Janet Edgar of Hot Springs, Ark.

A reception for the sisters will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in Suddes Hall, next to St. Mary’s Church, 525 E. Fourth Street (at the corner of Henry Street).
