A brave little boy meets the Pope on his own initiative

At this morning's General Audience in the Paul VI Hall in Vatican City, a brave little boy ran up to greet the Holy Father as various groups in attendance were introduced to the Pope:

And, as usual, Pope Benedict took it in stride:

While I'm happy for the boy, I'm not sure what this says about the effective of the Guard.

My guess is the Swiss Guard quickly ascertained that a 5 year old wasn't a threat.

  2. The trouble is that sometimes children are found to be dangerous.

  3. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

It would have been sad if the Swiss guard would have turned him away.

I suppose they should have frisked him for explosives first. *Sigh* What a world we live in!

A beautiful moment......in a cynical world, full of adults who will want to criticise and analyse how, why and who let this happen, when all we should see is the joy of a child meeting the Holy Father.

And how wonderful is the Holy Father's reaction!! Gracious, generous and gentle, truly wonderful!!

Didn't Jesus say himself... "Let the children come to me"?  Thanks John for pointing that out because thats what I thought of when I read this article
I'm so happy for that little boy and I sure hope the Holy Father recognized what a joy it must've been for him.
