Yesterday I overheard what is being surmised here as the October date for the canonization of Blessed Damien of Molokai. It seems as though some in Belgium, Damien's native land, have already announced the date, though the Holy See has not yet done so, and is expected to do so on February 20th, the day after I leave this island.
I've looked into the rumor and cannot seem to locate any such announcement, here or abroad (but I'm also not quite sure where to look). If anyone in Belgium happens to stumble their way here, could you confirm or deny said rumors? Many thanks!
In the meantime, I'm going to go watch the sun rise out of the ocean.
