Ingredients symbolize divine blessing

Thom continues to maintain his error that Mt Dew is greater than Dr Pepper, the true Elixir of Life.

The greatness of Dr Pepper is clearly seen simply by examining the number of ingredients in Dr Pepper: 23.

Where else does the number twenty-three come from if not the combination of the numbers two and three. Two, as everyone knows, represenents the two natures of Christ, while three represents the number of divine persons in the Godhead. This is an obvious sign of God's blessings.

Seven times three equals twenty-one; add two more and you have twenty-three. Seven symbolizes fullness which is reflected in the motto, "Good for Life." The three persons of the Trinity are reflected in the call to drink Dr Pepper at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. The two natures of Christ are reflected in the dual flavors of Dr Pepper: regular and diet.

Taken in total there are four kinds of Dr Pepper: regular, diet, berries 'n cream, cherry vanilla, a clear representation of the holy Evangelists.

(St. Bonaventure, master of the number game, gaze down in awe. To all just joining us in this debate, this is merely for fun; don't take it too seriously.)

  1. Thom: I hate to say I told you so, but...

  2. Well, you can't argue with that logic. Unfortunately for Thom, I have to say he doesn't stand a chance in winning this great debate. Hats off to you Fr. Daren, I the great supporter of that flavorless beverage, declare you the winner in my eyes.

  4. Inspired inshmired.

I only got behind because I was up all night in the ER Thursday night, and now am currently in Canton, OH.

But I do propose a truce, of sorts: We combine forces against the evils of Pepsi and Coke.

    What say ye, foe?

    :-)

    Happy Trinity Sunday, Father.

  5. Thom, are you alright?

In the interest of charity, I shall agree to a truce, but I will say that Coke is worse than Pepsi.

  6. Oooh. The pain, the pain. You have dissed my preferred cola. I have tried diet Pepsi, but it just isn't the same for me a diet Coke. Even when I consumed the sugared variety, Pepsi just didn't taste "right."

  7. To be perfectly honest, both Coke and Pepsi taste like battery acid, to me.

  8. The first swig of Dr Pepper in the morning has a most pleasing biting sting to it that leaves you wanting more (something like sea salt and vinegar chips).

The first swig of Coke at any time of day tears your throat to pieces.

  9. Yes, I'm fine. When I said ER, I meant to say ICU. A friend had an ATV accident, and has developed a blood clot in his lung. Do keep him in your prayers.

I agree with you this far Father... the best drink in the morning is soda, although I think it's been established that we disagree about the variety. :-)

Jeffrey: Yes. I believe that both Coke and Pepsi are composed entirely of battery acid, acid rain, and varying amounts of sugar and tar.

  10. But seriously now, coffee is the elixer of life. Everyone knows that.

  11. "Sea salt and vinegar chips" in the morning would make me a bit nauseous.

  12. Coffee's great, as long as it's mixed with generous amounts of sugar, milk, cream, chocolate, and vanilla. With cinnamon.

  13. "To be perfectly honest, both Coke and Pepsi taste like battery acid, to me."

    Agreed.

But add a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream and...

    Ahhh

  14. Thom, my prayers you have.

Brad, you should try Dr Pepper with a bit of ice cream.

  15. Are you on their payroll? They should hire you for PR.

  16. Oh, I have! Ice cream and a slug of bourbon.

  17. Here is a recipe from SFO MOM's blog for Dr.Pepper Baked beans that you might try:

    Dr. Pepper Baked Beans:

2 cans (11 oz) pork and beans, UNDRAINED
1 can (14 oz) cannellini (white kidney) beans, DRAINED AND RINSED
1 can (14 oz) pink beans, DRAINED AND RINSED
1 can (14 oz) petite diced tomatoes, UNDRAINED
    6 ounces Dr. Pepper
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/4 tsp cloves
1 cup EACH onion, bell pepper and celery, chopped fine

Mix all of this in a 3-qt or larger casserole dish. Bake, covered, at 350 for 45 minutes.

I like to make this in my 4-qt Nesco roaster and bake at 300 for the first half hour, then turn down to 200 until the rest of the meal is ready to serve.

  18. I hate to admit it, since it would encourage his notions, but that sounds well worth trying.

  19. Mountain Dew is vile.
Pepper will do in a pinch, but...
The best is Mr. Pibb, who isn't so pretentious as to pretend he is a 'doctor.'

  20. Ma Beck, you really ought to know that Mr. Pibb is nothing more than an imposter of the esteemed and highly honored Dr Pepper.
